Do your thing!
Happy Monday everyone!
We are back for another amazing week and another great discussion to hopefully make your week that much better.
What do I aim to talk about today?
Well, last week I mentioned paradigms that are in your subconscious programming.
This week, I would like to help you in one way identify what these paradigms might be.
First, what is a paradigm?
As a mentor of mine has explained, it is simply an idea. Sometimes people will blow things out of proportion and think a paradigm is some big scary monster hiding under their bed while they sleep at night.
In reality, it is just an idea that has been planted into your subconscious mind through repetition or when you were being programmed as a young child.
Now, it is no fault of your own which paradigms or ideas you may discover lurking in the depths of your mind, BUT once you discover them, it is now your personal responsibility to adjust them into whatever it is you want that is in line with your goal.
Sometimes it is hard to dig up the skeletons from way back when, so how do you identify a paradigm or create a new one?
This is where the knowing/doing gap comes into play.
If you have an idea that comes to mind of how to conquer your goal, that is your intellectual mind working to develop plans to reach your goal. However, this idea is only an idea that has just surfaced. It hasn't reached your subconscious mind as automatic behavior, so you don't "do" anything with that idea.
One example I can give that is easy to understand is going to the gym to train. Anyone who is out of shape knows that they should do some physical activity. Let me repeat that, they KNOW they should do something. They also know how to get up and walk or run. They know all of these things but can't get their ass of the couch because they are programmed to sit there, eat chips, and watch another episode of the office.
That is a prime example of the knowing/doing gap.
You know what to do, maybe even how to do it. But you can't seem to get it done.
So, how do you close this gap?
The answer I will give anyone is autosuggestion.
Without going into to much depth or detail, it is repeatedly suggesting something to your intellectual or conscious mind until it is accepted by your subconscious mind. I understand this is a simple way of describing it, but that is essentially what we are after.
To give a couple quotes from the beginning of the entire chapter written on autosuggestion in the classic book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill...
"It is the agency of communication between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place, and that which serves as the seat of action for the subconscious mind."
"No thought, whether it be negative or positive, can enter the subconscious mind without the aid of the principle of auto-suggestion"
What is one easy way to use this principle to aid yourself in your goal?
Write down your goal, self-image, or affirmations that you have that play into who you are if you have conquered your goal.
Simply typing these has some effect, but the act of writing them out fires and wires more connections in your brain.
Get yourself a pen and paper and write some stuff out. You will feel better about doing so.
Also, if you haven't read Think and Grow Rich I would highly suggest that as well.
Another great book about building habits is Atomic Habits by James Clear. You can find links to both of these books below!
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
Now that you have a way to identify paradigms and a method to work on adjusting these, the results you seek will be that much closer!
I appreciate you all reading through this week's edition.
I urge you to put this into practice TODAY. If you read it and go about your day, the effect it has will be minimal.
Autosuggest your goal and what you want. Chase the life you want. It is closer than you think!
Have a great week everyone!
All love,
Nick
