Hey happy Monday everyone! I hope y’all had a great Easter holiday with your families and that you got plenty of good food! Let’s start this week off right!

This Past Week

The past week for the Lee household was still filled with some sickness and some crazy bug we got from Ava’s daycare. It is wild how you can go from hardly ever getting sick to having a kid in daycare and getting sick more times in the past year than I have in the last decade.

It is what it is! The world keeps turning and things still need to get done. Control what you can control and keep moving forward!

Training

Within the realm of training, I am still working back to being myself. While doing this, there are several things to keep in mind. The biggest thing is pretty much holding back while doing anything. The amount of volume and intensity should be limited so that the body can recover and adapt
especially if it’s already in a down state (being sick).

So I would say if something is programmed to be limited and you feel bad/guilty because you know you have done more or are capable - don’t let this dictate you pushing overly hard and digging yourself a deeper hole. Listen to your body AND if something is already preprogrammed to be easier or only hit a certain difficulty rating, stick to that. It is there for a reason.

Nobody knows your body like you, so IF you have been training and know when you are down, make sure to act accordingly. If you haven’t been training all that long, your coach or someone that is more experienced will have a good idea of what is too much.

Mindset

Have you ever had one of those days where everything just seems to bug you or go wrong? Yeah me too. What is something that you can do to help you during those days?

Whenever a negative thought pops into your head, the longer you entertain it, the more likely you are to go down the same pathways of thinking you always do. Like why does this keep happening to me or everything is just going wrong. AND the longer you focus on those things, the more of those little annoyances seem to pop up. Next time this happens, just think “next” or move on to the next thought.

The more that these negative situations stick out to you, the more likely you are to see the next one and the next one. So, view them for what they are, just happenings. You have put the annoying connotation to them. You are going to have to clean up, fix, or any one of a hundred other things that situation anyway. Might as well let go of the negativity and put your mind on something positive. If we move to viewing something as more positive or even without a negative connotation, we look for more of the positive in something. Then you will start to notice all of the things that are going right!

This is a simple and doable task, but it can be somewhat difficult if your default setting has been negative and pessimistic. With more repetition and practice, you will get the hang of it and start to see the positive in things instead of the negative.

As you go through this week, anything negative just hit next! Switch things to neutral and positive, and you will have a much better week!

Pop Culture

We just finished up my favorite month of sporting events with March Madness leading into The Masters golf tournament. Yes I like to watch golf, especially The Masters, as it feels like spring (and almost summer) is here.

I also started a new show on Netflix called Inside Man. It is a pretty interesting show that involves a death row inmate solving certain cases from within prison. It is only a 4 episode show I believe, and I haven’t finished it yet. However, if you like drama and compelling storylines, you may enjoy this show!

Here and Now

Whatever you are doing while reading this week’s issue, I want you to stop and take the time to appreciate where you are in your life.

Even if you are somewhere in life you don’t eventually want to be, you are precisely where you need to be for a reason. Don’t go looking for a reason, that will just drive you mad and take you away from the exercise. Just be thankful for where you are at. It could always be worse, and you are on your path to being the best you and having the life you want and deserve.

Future

I am looking forward to having a great week this week. I don’t have any huge plans through the week, but I am excited and can’t wait for things to happen that I may not be expecting. I am a man of routine, but life is always more interesting when you have positive situations pop up that you don’t have planned.

I know day to day life isn’t usually where this saying applies, but expect the unexpected. If you are looking to find positive unexpected situations, you may just find something that will make your day/week.

However you spend your week, I hope it is a fantastic one! I hope that this newsletter brought you some positivity on your Monday no matter how it was going in the first place. Regardless of how it was, you can choose to make it great!

So, make that choice, and have a great week!

All Love,

Nick
