Who is Nick Lee?
Lee Family - February 2023

Hey everyone, you have landed on my website, you either read my about page or saw this post, and now you are wondering who is this dude? Well, I will give you that answer in the shortest amount of time I can.

I am just a guy from a small town in southern Minnesota called Blue Earth (yes, it actually has blue in it). I grew up with two brothers, who are my best friends, living with our mom. Our upbringing included a lot of sports almost all the time. We were very competitive, which in my biased opinion is an important quality to have. Either way, this competitiveness and participating in sports grew a love for a select few including football, basketball, and track & field. I started training myself around 13 years old to make sure I was the best physical athlete that I could possibly be. People see me now and hear part of my story and think that I am just a football guy... this couldn't be further from the truth. All the way from childhood to graduating high school and even until now (I am 30), my favorite sport has been and always will be basketball.

How could people think I'm just a football guy? Well, I ended up choosing to go play college football. I played tight end all my years of college, and made it just a bit further. A year out of college, I still thought I had the athleticism and skill to pursue a higher level of football. After a long process (I will describe the details of this in another post), I got an invite to the Minnesota Vikings Rookie Minicamp in the spring of 2016. Sadly, this was the first and last official NFL team function I was a part of, and it still eats at me to this day because the standard I had set for myself was much higher.

During the pursuit of this NFL dream, I was earning a Master's Degree in Exercise Science and learning the art of being a strength & conditioning coach. One constant of my athletic life was the pursuit of the best physical athleticism possible as mentioned a little bit earlier. I decided to chase this profession and career after an undergraduate career with a more rigorous course load and thoughts of pursuing medical school (Bachelor's Degree was in Biology with Minors in Chemistry and Physics). Ultimately, I decided that it was not for me, and chasing athletic performance coaching was the move.

Fast forward to now, I have been a strength & conditioning coach for nearly a decade helping several college/high school/middle school athletes achieve physical feats they previously thought not possible. I am now a husband and father of 1, soon to be 3 (Ashley and I are having twins this spring), and we live in Bondurant, Iowa just outside of Des Moines. Many things in my environment have and continue to change, but there are several things that stay the same. This leads me to the ending of this article and describing to you the purpose of why I am writing and you are reading.

I believe that one of life's biggest purposes, if not the biggest, is to grow into a person that one can be proud of. Yes, this is broad and undefined, but I think you get the idea. To me, growth in any area falls under the category of self improvement. This website, and frankly my entire life, have always been about self improvement. My competitiveness is a trait that shines as a method of me improving and growing until I am better than most in areas I deem important. Regardless of if you are overly competitive or not, I, and this site, are dedicated to anything of practical use in the realm of self improvement. I have split this into 3 broad categories to simplify: Physical Health (my area of highest expertise), wealth, and mindset/spirituality. If you have made it this far, I appreciate you being here and reading. I can't wait to share with you everything that I have found works for me.

All the best,

Nick
